Bountiful Grains - #8169
12 pages, Advanced Expertise Level
Sometimes a pattern's inspiration just comes from experimentation. Bountiful Grains began as a way to demonstrate to shop owners the many ways our threads can be used. Various classic stitches were combined in a geometric pattern. The possible combinations of threads, stitches and colors were far more than could be covered in a short class, so this instruction helper evolved.
The instructions for each stitch suggest which are the most appropriate threads to choose from. Invent your own color combinations or choose one of several suggested. Decorative stitches include Herringbone, Rhodes, Woven, Flat, Steepled Sheaf, and others. Models were stitched on 18 ct canvas by Zweigart and 14 ct Valentina by Wichelt, but a large variety of fabric or canvas sizes are suitable. Suggestions for several smaller projects are included, as well as tips for using the threads and stitches in other needlework projects. Planned to be a workshop which can be tailored to different levels, it is also perfect for the stitcher who wants to explore threads and stitches on their own.
