For the pincushion worked in Pearl cotton you will need...

2 pieces of Zweigart white, 28 count Quaker cloth, 10 ins (25 cms) square.
White Anchor Pearl cotton no.8.
White Anchor Pearl cotton no.12.
Anchor stranded cottons, blossom pink (shade 49) and pale moss green (shade 265).
Fabric in a contrasting colour, we used pink felt, 10 ins (25 cms) square.
Tapestry needle sizes 24 and 26.
Polyester filling.
Approximate design size: 43/8 ins (11 cms) square.

For the pincushion worked in Caron threads you will need...

2 pieces of Zweigart china rose, 22 count Oslo fabric (shade 414), 12 ins (30 cms) square.
Caron Watercolours, Cotton Candy no. 116.
Caron Wildflowers, Cotton Candy no 116.
Fabric in a contrasting colour, we used white felt, 12 ins (30 cms) square.
Tapestry needle sizes 24 and 26.
Polyester filling.
Approximate design size: 53/4 ins (15 cms) square.

Working the pincushion

Follow the instructions for working the needlecase on page 19.

Making up the pincushion

1 Once the embroidery is complete, place it face down onto the backing fabric and then place the contrasting fabric on top.
2 Pin and tack together just outside the embroidered area.
3 Machine or hand sew along the outside edge of the Four sided stitch, leaving a 3 ins (8 cms) gap along one side.
4 Turn through to the right way and stuff with the polyester filling. Slip stitch the opening.

One skein of each shade of thread is more than enough to complete these projects.
